A great new restaurant on St. John

St. John in the Virgin Islands has been a favorite destination of ours for many years.  During our most recent vacation there, we were excited about visiting a new restaurant we heard about in Cruz Bay named Tage.  This place is incredible, and may become our new favorite restaurant on the island!   There is a beautifully decorated interior room, with bar, and a lovely porch area, for those who like to dine outdoors. The menu is very unique, and the food is perfectly prepared and served.  I have to confess that we were so impressed with Tage, that, during our short one-week stay on St. John, we dined there twice.

Although we were tempted by everything we saw on the menu the first night, we finally decided to start with two of the fabulous fruit infused martinis featured there. There is also an extensive wine list for those who would prefer.  Next, we ordered a favorite of the place, the lightly warmed spinach, with smoked applewood bacon, roasted pecans, asiago  cheese and cider vinaigrette.  The salad was so delightful that we ordered this the second night as well!  Next we chose to make a meal of a hearty appetizer, which featured potato wrapped shrimp, calamari, Mahi-Mahi dumplings, baby greens, tomatoes and asparagus.  Just lovely.  To finish, we choose to share another favorite of this place, the white chocolate tarragon soufflé served with Crème Anglaise.  Two pieces of chocolate almond bark accompanied this dream dessert.  All in all, our first visit here was just superb. We definitely plan to return to Tage many more times during future visits, and highly recommend this place to anyone visiting the island.
