Project Update

Hi Madame President,

I am trying to get to a meeting, any meeting but I haven't made it yet. I am off to Haiti tomorrow.

I just thought I would let you know that all the plumbing is in and we have the foundation 1/4 filled. I have had a lot of people going down individually to work and Wednesday I will have the next team going. It will be such a great thing to have this building.

I thought you might be excited to hear that we have a grant going out for solar power for the clinic with vaccine refrigerator and other equipment that is solar and it is 99% sure we will get the grant. We also have $10,000 worth of vitamins donated, 500 toothbrushes, and we are working on a food grant. Our Medical advisor in NJ is also working on medicine and supplies from NJ. She is also putting together some dental equipment.

In the meantime the home visits continue and we are continuing to set up a network of free clinics for persons who have diseases that we will not be able to treat at our clinic. Did you ever think you would have a clinic in Haiti? This project has been much bigger and time consuming that I ever imagined when we first sat down to talk at that table. But it's well worth the effort. You will not believe it when you see it.

We are currently running a summer program with 100 kids, with the couple that is down there for the summer. The younger ones will have a hygiene and tooth brushing class included as part of their program. The older over 12 kids will have the same and deal with much deeper things like HIV and other related topics. It has been going for two weeks already and has 4 weeks left.

I have two more work teams going down from July 21 - August 4. This will be a lot of building, but also a two week planning for the opening of the clinic. Thank you, thank you from all the Haitians you have already helped, and the many more that you will continue to help because of your support.

Talk to you soon.
Gale
